Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique combines manipulation with movement to treat soft tissues. ART targets and isolates the affected area to break up scar tissue, promoting blood flow and the faster healing of injuries. ART can be used to treat headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, sciatica, TMJ, tendonitis and more.
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is located just in front of the ear on either side of the face. Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD) is a term which refers to any problem affecting the normal function of the jaw.
TMD symptoms may develop gradually or begin immediately following a particular incident such as a car accident, a direct blow to the jaw, a bite down on a hard piece of food, or significant oral surgery. Many TMD conditions can resolve completely, whereas others may persist and require ongoing jaw care and management.
Massage therapy and physiotherapy can play an important role in diagnosing and managing TMD conditions. Other areas with musculoskeletal problems, such as the neck, may also need to be addressed.
These therapies may be recommended by your doctor, dentist, or oral medicine specialist.
Visceral manipulation is a manual therapy consisting of gentle manual forces that encourage normal mobility, tone and inherent tissue motion of the viscera, their connective tissue and other areas of the body where physiologic motion has been impaired. Strains in the connective tissue of the viscera can result from surgical scars, adhesions, illness, posture or injury. Visceral manipulation can be beneficial for disorders such as whiplash, concussion, sports injuries, back pain, constipation, acid reflux, chronic pelvic pain, sciatica, post-operative scar tissue.
CranioSacral therapy involves applying gentle pressure and manipulation to the joints in the skull, spine, and parts of the pelvis. This light touch is said to affect the pressure and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, which is the fluid around the brain and spinal cord. CranioSacral therapy can assist with migraines and headaches, chronic neck and back pain, post concussion symptoms, TMJ Syndrome, stress and tension related disorders, and more.

Infant Massage Lessons (0-9 mos). Touch is vital to developing security and bonding and has an important effect on a child’s well-being and future relationships. Touch introduces a bond of trust, love, compassion and warmth that will follow the child into adulthood.

Our lessons are private only, booked in a quiet, warm room, with Registered Massage Therapist Jeanie Bezdan. Jeanie will demonstrate the massage technique on a doll, guiding the parent step by step as they massage their own baby. Two one hour sessions will be needed to cover the whole body.
